Temple Street 庙街, Hong Kong
Temple Street is a MUST GO PLACE in Hong Kong! It often appears in a scene of those Hong Kong’s movies and also TVB Drama. So, a TVB fans like me, of course, can’t travel to Hong Kong without visiting this place. So, this place was the first place that I visited in my schedule.
Temple Street is located between the Jordan MRT Station (Exit A) and Yau Ma Tei MRT Station (Exit C). Starting from every evening, there are night stalls at the road sides of Temple Street (it’s just like our pasar malam) selling clothes, bag, jewellery, electronics devices etc. And also, there are selling Hong Kong local snack, seafood, char chan teng and others. Standing at Temple Street, we can really feel the real life of the Hong Kong people, their traditions and their food.
It’s only 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel (Eaton Hotel) to Temple Street. So, we decided to walk there. Unfortunately, like what I mentioned in my previous blog, it was a raining day in Hong Kong when we arrive in Hong Kong. So, there were only a few stalls in Temple Street and the people crowd was not as much as what I imagined. It was a bit disappointed, but I told myself it was only the first day, we can come again since it is so near to our hotel.
Since there are not many things to see and we were extremely hungry, we just randomly walked into a restaurant called “Mei Xin” (美新小菜馆). It is just an ordinary restaurant, not especially recommended by that tourist. But, have a try.
Maybe because of raining day, there were only a few people in the restaurant, and all of them are local. We have ordered:-
Beef noodles 牛腩面 (HKD35)
Wantan Mees 云吞面 (HKD35)
and also…. Big bottle of YanJing Beer 燕京啤酒 (HKD20)
The food was served fastly. The food taste was good. The price is reasonable too. So, it is recommended to have a try if you have the time.
